The San Cono Church
1 Via Giovanni Pascoli, San Cono
Mappa
San Cono originated during the development period of Abakainon. Initially, it was just a small settlement with scattered dwellings in the vegetation.
In the Middle Ages, around the year 1200, farmers and shepherds built their houses in a clustered form, giving rise to the present-day San Cono town.
Legend has it that in a cave at the foot of the mountain on which the settlement stands, immersed among the trees of the forest, Saint Cono from Naso, on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, spent three days and three nights in incessant prayer and penance, sleeping on the ground with the local shepherds. It is from here that both the name and devotion to this Saint originated.
